Almscliffe Crag

Almscliffe Crag is a well known landmark that can be seen for miles around,  it is located a the top of a hill near the village of North Rigton above the Lower Wharfe Valley between Leeds and Harrogate, the crag was formed due to the softer adjacent Shale eroding at a faster rate then Milestone which is more hard wearing the crag is a site of special scientific interest, the crag is a popular site with rock climbers as well as walkers, it has also been used as a film location it was on the opening title of Emmerdale, the views from the top of the crag are fantastic
